King of Pop Dead at 50
Submitted by T. Pratt on Fri, 06/26/2009 - 11:52.
I had to dedicate a few bars to the King of Pop. Like many of you, I walked around the house as a youngster with either a rhinestone or sequence glove on grabbing my crotch and shaking my leg in the air. I could do some semblance of the moon walk, only because that was about my best attempt at break dancing. The crazy thing about Mike J, is that young kids in Japan, China, Austrailia, Saudi Arabia, and London among other places, where doing the same thing. Mike was a true superstar, and even his Hollyweird tendencies at times, don't overshadow his amazing legacy
Reginald Berry on The History Channel Tonight

I'm proud to announce that my big brother in spirit, Mr. Reginald "Akkeem" Berry, a Westside Stepper in his own right, will be featured on The History Channel tonight in an episode of Gangland at 8pm central time. Mr. Berry, a former notorious gang chief with the Vice Lord street gang "The Four Corner Hustlers," will discuss various aspects of life as a Universal Elite during his reign. A number of other 4's will be featured as well.
Exclusive Interview w/ Sunshine: Serve Her Sunny Side Up…Please!
Submitted by Imasteppa on Wed, 06/24/2009 - 12:53.
If you were to look up the word “controversial” in the dictionary you would find the definition “an affinity towards disagreement or argumentative” and then you might see a picture of this fiery Hispanic/African-American bred Chicago entrepreneur, Steppin’ workshop instructor, voluptuous, sharp dresser, quick witted/tempered woman named “Sunshine.” No last name or government names needed … just Sunshine.
Marcell & The Truth CD in July
Submitted by T. Pratt on Tue, 06/23/2009 - 13:12.
Yesterday ChiStepper caught up with Marcell Russell, lead singer of Marcell and The Truth, to chat about his new music. Marcell says that the new album will drop toward the end of July and that he definitely kept the Steppers in mind. To clarify, I asked if the album was smooth like the last one and Marcell said, "I don't know if Steppers can dance to it, but it's definitely smooth in a lot of places." Marcell is definitely going to keep ChiStepper informed on the actual release date.
WLSC Master's Category Updates
Submitted by T. Pratt on Mon, 06/22/2009 - 15:09.
The World's Largest Steppers Contest rules are up on www.wlscontest.com, but still, a number of unanswered questions about the Master's Category remain. The rules explain that ANYONE who has placed in the "Original" category only is eligible. As always, no props, splits, or dancing on the floor is allowed. Lastly, the category is open age.
ChiStepper caught up with Pete Frazier to get a little more clarity on the Master's Category, but still some questions remain. Here goes:

Submitted by T. Pratt on Fri, 06/19/2009 - 13:38.
ChiStepper learned of a creative new concept that is blowing up in the Washington, D. C. area called Lotto Soul. The Dramatics celebrated this new program with a free concert yesterday, as well as, a meet and greet later that evening at the Zanzibar on Water St. in D.
The Connection at the all new "The Club"
Submitted by steppinlady2 on Thu, 06/18/2009 - 15:25.
On Sunday, June 7th I went to the unveiling of Chicago's (or should I say Bedford Park's) new classy and contemporary nightspot "The Club," hosted by "The Connection." The structure of the building, though reminiscent of the various stores that formerly occupied the mini-mall, now makes up a series of various lounges.
Majestic Gents ATL Review (Pix Included)
Submitted by steppinlady2 on Wed, 06/17/2009 - 14:25.
I'm a true Chicago stepper, but Atlanta has me ready to pack and move after my fun-filled weekend of shopping, site seeing, dancing and more shopping with the Majestic Gents for the "Summer Jam." I didn't want to pack to leave such a wonderful place. Not only does this town have bona fide Steppers, the city is beautiful with large mountainside highways and the beautiful Atlanta Hilton Airport hotel. After checking in on the first day, we dined at the Magnolia Grill that served a delectable luncheon buffet that consisted of smothered chick

A Conversation With Haywood
Submitted by T. Pratt on Tue, 06/16/2009 - 13:23.
I walked in Chase Bank recently and ran in to none other than former Walkers and 40 and Over champion, Adrian Haywood. After a futile attempt at trying to get him to withdraw some cash for me, I figured I’d have a better chance at coercing him to drop some Steppin’ knowledge on me. Haywood, as he is commonly referred to on the Steppers scene, gladly obliged and what follows are paraphrased excerpts from my impromptu interview.
Haywood on Competing in the WLSC this year:

On The Set - Episode 3.4
Submitted by MzNicole on Mon, 06/15/2009 - 13:05.
Sparkle is glowing with pride as she realizes that soon she’ll have Jabari eating out of the palm of her hand. She thinks long and hard about her strategy to discreetly disrupt the business relationship of Jabari and Mike in order to solidify a place for her ambitions to grow. What she needed to know was all of the inner workings of the business, and she knew that the best source of support for a man’s business was his woman. Sparkle had to get Candi to trust her enough to spill Mike’s secrets to her. She picks up her phone and dials Candi’s number.

Markie Bee's Fundraiser
Submitted by T. Pratt on Wed, 06/10/2009 - 19:33.
I number of Steppers came out in support of Markie Bee's fundraiser at Club D'Elegance last night. I'm not sure how much he raised, but when Sunshine opened up for donations, Mellow Khris took an already over flowing pitcher of money around to collect more 10 and 20 dollar bills. Donald Blount of Atlanta's GDI Black Heritage coalition pledged $100 on behalf of his organization.
Old vs. New Skool: Groove Theory vs. John Legend
Submitted by T. Pratt on Wed, 06/10/2009 - 14:50.
Here is the second battle of "Hello, It's Me," and we still haven't featured the original performer of the song yet. This battle however, is much closer than the first, as The Isley's wiped out T. I.'s version. In the current face off, one of my absolute favorites, Groove Theory takes on crooner John Legend. I absolutely love these two artists ... well, actually Amel Larrieux and John Legend (sorry Brice), but this week I had to pit them against one another. What say you all?

On The Set - Episode 3.3
Submitted by MzNicole on Mon, 06/08/2009 - 14:36.
Candi is driving 90 mph in a 45 mph zone. She is still fuming about what Eve suggested about her and Mike. Could Mike really have been involved with Eve? She’s my total opposite. What could he have found attractive about her? Eve has been with most of Mike’s friends, and has children with several men on the set. I just know my man wouldn’t want a woman that has been passed around by several different men. Could Mike really be that deceptive?

It's a little Sunshine
Submitted by T. Pratt on Thu, 06/04/2009 - 14:07.
Can someone please tell me who got a hold of this beautiful baby girl, corrupted her, and turned her into the monster that she is now? Does this look like the face of a lady who birthed a generation of blood thirsty Shinettes?! Well, if you look closely, it does look like she's cutting her eyes at someone and she surely isn't camera shy ... so it's definitely Sunshine!
