Dramatics Founder Ron Banks, Passes at 58
Submitted by T. Pratt on Fri, 03/05/2010 - 14:51.
Dramatics lead singer and founder Ron Banks, died yesterday at the age of 58 from a myocardial infarction. The Dramatics, originally founded as the Dynamics in 1962, are responsible for so many hit Steppin’ records. It would take far too long to try and mention all of them, but feel free to post some of your favorites in the comment box below. I heard the news by way of Tanya Banks, Ron’s daughter and a friend of mine. I remember speaking with Tanya, telling her that both the Dramatics and Stylistics were my two favorite soul groups of all time, and shocking
Columbus, Ohio's Marc Thomas "Fills In The Blanks"
Submitted by T. Pratt on Thu, 03/04/2010 - 12:30.
Fill in the Blanks is back with one of the pioneers of the Columbus, Ohio Steppers scene, Marc Thomas. Marc has penetrated the Columbus Steppin’ and overall dance scene in a way that would make a native Chicagoan jealous. Leveraging relationships with the city of Columbus, Marc hosts of series of dance classes and is responsible for producing many of the students coming from the C. O. Hailing from my former neck of the woods, ChiStepper presents Marc Thomas as he “Fills In The Blanks.”

Exclusive Interview: Car Michael
Submitted by T. Pratt on Tue, 03/02/2010 - 16:14.
Alabama’s Jamie Graham took a chance on a new track in the World’s Largest Steppers Contest this year, when he performed to a smooth new groove that no one had ever heard. A number of Steppers went scrambling to discover the new track, and Jamie’s selflessness in sharing the track (not acting like some of Chicago’s music hoarding DJ’s) allowed Car Michael to benefit from his record “Rock It” while it’s actually still hot. Charnice Simmons exposed the Chicago audience to this record and set Car Michael up with ChiStepper.com.&nb
