While I was in L. A. at the BET Awards, I chatted with Lance Gross (House of Payne) for a second.  We talked about his relationship with the ever so gorgeous Eva Pigford, and how good it was to see young beautiful black people happily in love.  Lance seemed genuinely touched by the sentiment.  Coincidentally, the topic turned to me being from Chicago, at which point he talked about Chicago Steppin'.  He says that there's a scene in a movie he just filmed where people are out Steppin'.

Now ChiStepper hasn't heard a peep about Steppers participating in a major feature film, so if they hired REAL steppers, they're doing a darn good job of keeping it on the hush.  When Lance was asked to give us a taste of his Steppin' game, he burst into a slick 1, 2 step, which was entertaining to say the least, but a far cry from Steppin' as we know it.  Lance bursted out laughing and said, "I can't step a lick ... but it is in the movie."

So Steppers, while many have argued that Steppin' has digressed since the years of major sponsorship dollars, motion pictures like Love Jones, and videos like Gerald Levert and R. Kelly, trust that Hollywood knows that we exist.  As a matter of fact, I here talks of potential TV and movie deals quite frequently these days.  It's only a matter of time before this thing blows off the map.
